Where to go skiing this winter

Did you know that you can go skiing and snowboarding in the middle of Stockholm in winter? Hammarbybacken towers over the city’s southern suburbs and offers everything a skier could ask for, including a ski school and snowboard park. There are a number of other slopes around the county too.

The slopes open when temperatures fall below zero and snow cannons can start producing snow.  The skislopes around the county are small and suitable for beginners, and most facilities have equipment for hire. If you are looking for a bigger challenge, the nearest large ski resort is Romme Alpin in Dalarna, about two hours from Stockholm by car.
