Matts Leiderstam – Prince Eugen’s Altar Painting and Moving Kiruna Church

In collaboration with Kin Museum of Contemporary Art in Kiruna, Waldemarsudde presents this research-based and conceptual exhibition by and of Swedish artist Matts Leiderstam (b. 1956). In the prince’s spacious studio on the top floor of the residence, Leiderstam focusses on the inception and significance of Eugen’s striking altar painting from 1912 for Kiruna Church, but also on the work’s relationship to the landscape, lightning conditions and the performative.
