The coastal battery at Arholma was built at the height of the Cold War. Strategically placed in the northern archipelago, to protect Swedish sovereignty against soviet attacks, the installation was in use well into the 2000s, before it was dismantled. These days, the formerly top-secret military facility is a museum open to the public.
