Stora Sand on Nåttarö is the archipelago’s largest sandy beach and one of the best places to swim. The island also has a cave called Drottninggrottan. The story is that it was a hiding place for Queen Maria Eleonora in the early 1600s when she fled the court and government after the death of her husband, King Gustav II Adolf. There is a large vacation village open in the summer along with campsites and bike and rowboat rentals.
