Bus tours in Stockholm
Guided bus tours are a classic when it comes to taking in the sights. And why not? A bus is a relaxing way of getting around Stockholm comfortably while your guide - recorded or live - talks you through the passing highlights and landmarks.
- Stockholm currently has three major bus tour operators. Strömma and Red Sightseeing offer "Hop on, Hop off"-tours. In other words, visitors join the tour for as long as they like and can choose to disembark from the bus at any stop.
- Ocean Bus has a set route for their amphibian bus tours. The tour lasts about 60 minutes and you'll see the central parts of town both from land and the water.
Boat tours in Stockholm
The fact that Stockholm is built on 14 beautiful islands connected by 57 bridges, makes a sightseeing tour by boat somewhat of a given. There's an old saying the best way to experience Stockholm is "from the water". Cruising along the waters of Kungsholmen or Gamla Stan on a sunny summer's day, it's easy to see why.
- Strömma –Strömma operates several dinner -and brunch cruises, both in Stockholm and out to the archipelago. During the summer season, the company also traffics the Drottningholm tour from Stockholm City to Drottningholm Palace along Lake Mälaren.
- Red Sightseeing – Red offers Hop-on, hop-off tours where guests can choose when to join or leave the tour at their leisure.
- Waxholmsbolaget – Waholmbolaget traffics sightseeing tours and regular ferry traffic in the archipelago all year round, but with fewer departures during the off-season (August-May).
- Blidösundsbolaget – A tour operator specializing in trips and cruises to the Stockholm archipelago during the summer season. Blidösundsbolaget also operates several dinner cruises.
- Day Cruises with Viking Line – Viking Line is a shipping company that operating several cruises from Stockholm to Finland. They also run an 11-hour-day cruise through the Stockholm Archipelago (with a quick stop in Mariehamn in the Åland Islands).
