Let your inner-nerd find awsome things to do, see, and play in Stockholm. Here are some suggestions.
If you’re first and foremost a gamer, a night out at Hey STHLM! or N3rds Bar might be in the cards. Hey STHLM! is housed in the back of RFQ's at Odenplan and is an arcade with both racing games, light gun shooters, dance games, and pinball machines. N3rds on the other hand brings the home console experience out on the town. Guests order a drink, maybe something to eat, and book a table where they can play both retro classics and the current gen-favorites. If you’re curious about the history of games, games development, and their place in society, the Play Beyond Play exhibit at the National Museum of Science and Technology might interest you.
Cinephiles on the other hand might enjoy a guided tour of legendary Gamla Filmstaden studios; the former hub of the Swedish film industry. You’ll also find a modern multiplex on the premises, but if you’d rather watch a movie with dinner and drinks in style, a screening at Bio Capitol is probably more of your thing.
If quality shopping is your cup of tea you’ve got plenty of options. Music connoisseurs should swing by Sound Pollution if they’re into hard rock, metal, and punk; Snickars för club music, soul, and hip hop. Pet Sounds for rock, pop, and indie. Mickes in Hornstull on the other hand is perfect for secondhand-crate diggers.
If you’re on the hunt for new Warhammer miniatures or cards for your EDH deck Dragon’s Lair caters to your TCG, tabletop, and roleplaying needs. Comic books and graphic novels (both used and new) can be found at A Comics Heaven, obscure movie gems at Monkey Beach, and second-hand genre literature at Stockholm Science Fiction Antikvariat. And Science Fiction Bokhandeln in Gamla Stan has a little bit of everything; books, movies, graphic novels, board games, plush toys, and t-shirts. As long as you’re into dragons, vampires, superheroes, and alien invaders, that is.
So whether you’re an avid gamer, crate-digger, or cinephile Stockholm has a wide variety of shops and activities for you to explore and get lost in. Take a pick!
